Weekly Style Inspiration - "Lilly Pulitzer"

I've been busy designing window treatment displays at the store using the new line of Lilly Pulitzer fabrics for Lee Jofa, so naturally, I have Lilly on the brain.  This week I decided to create an inspiration board centered around my favorite fabrics from the line, including "Color me Coral" in surf blue and "In a Twist" in seafoam.

Weekly Style Inspiration - "Falling" for Autumn

This week, with Halloween creeping closer, I couldn't help but be inspired by the rich autumn hues, falling leaves and spooky decor that overflows from every store shelf this time of the year.

Donghia's "Bell 'Insetto" gives traditional a creepy crawly twist.  This silk damask comes in five elegant colorways and features tarantulas, beetles and other eight legged creatures that are sure to get your skin crawling.

If you have a craving for something a little out of the ordinary, these unique chairs by Jimmie Martin Ltd will definitely get you in the Halloween spirit.  More like pieces of art than furniture, according to their site, "Jimmie Martin Provides an eclectic showcase of one-off pieces of furniture combining the decadent and quirky with the nostalgic and urban."

Weekly Style Inspiration – Very "Vera Bradley"

This week I found inspiration in one of the most unlikely places.  Meet my favorite going-out bag!

My Clutch Purse

Yes, my inspiration came from my own purse. Like most girls, I absolutely love my Vera Bradley bags and with the debut of Brunschwig and Fils' "Les Alizes Collection" (see #4 Mira Tape Border on the board), which is reminiscent of these preppy prints, I decided to put together a dream room of my fave eclectic, bright, and slightly whimsical florals.

Hand Block Rocks

Amid the endless lines of surface and digital printed wallpapers that I come across, one new collection really stands out from the crowd.   Jaipur – Hand Block Wallcoverings, the new debut from Schumacher, combines time-honored techniques with traditional and transitional prints in colorways that look surprisingly fresh.  Each block is carved and then stamped entirely by hand, lending exquisite character that only a human touch can give.  While labor intensive the effort is clearly worth it!  From elegant Greek key motifs to playful paisley prints; it’s enough to put your design imagination on overload!  My pick from the collection are the prints that feature striking metallic gold accents, made all the more dramatic on their kraft paper tan grounds.

Weekly Style Inspiration – Missoni for Target

Beginning this week, I’ll be starting something called “Weekly Style Inspiration.”   Here, I’ll share whatever is getting my design juices flowing, whether it’s fashion, interiors, or even an object.  I’ll take this insight and show how this could be translated into an interior space.

With the tremendous buzz over the Missoni for Target collection last week, like most of the country, I’ve been going crazy for the eclectic zig zag chevron prints and gorgeously rich colors!  Between trips to Target, it got me thinking; how would I approach designing a room with such prints (especially since everything at Target was sold out)?  This was my solution…

From left to right: 1) Holly Hunt Area Rug- Maze; 2) Schumacher- Adras Ikat Print (Martyn Lawrence Bullard Collection);  3) Stacy Garcia Luxury Wallpapers – Stacy Garcia Mum; 4) Lee Jofa – Remo Striper, Color: Bittersweet; 5) Donghia – Zig Zag End Table; 6) Schumacher- Zenyatta Mondatta, Color: Noir and Blanc; 7) Mcguire Furniture- Bill Sofield Queen Branche Bed – Woven Headboard; 8) Pittsburgh Paint Colors: 110-7 Citrus Spice, 211-6 Grass Daisy, and  139-7 Wild Mulberry

I’ve fallen in love with Schumacher’s Zenyatta Mondatta print from the Fall 2011 Chroma Collection.  It comes in three striking colorways, including the black and noir that is shown above, and I still can’t figure out which one I like the best.  (I've ordered memos of all three and judging by the backorder dates, I see there are plenty of others who love it just as much as I do)!
